Hello Summer

I am joining several talented photographers from all over the world in a creativity project.  Their theme for this month was Hello Summer.  I had so many ideas for how I wanted to approach this and I actually took several images, but in the end I decided to keep it simple and go with images that show cased one of our very favorite ways to spend time together in the summer.  Summer just wouldn't be summer for us without heading to the mountains several times to dip our toes in the lake, catch a few fish, and sit around the campfire roasting marshmallows while telling ghost stories.  It's what defines summer for us.  It's what we look forward to all year long.  Summer of course would also not be summer without the popsicles, flip flops, sunscreen, trips to the pool, and sleep outs, but it's the camping in the woods that makes us know it's really here.  It's the campfire smoke in my hair, cooking over the fire, and reading a good book by the lake.  It's seeing the beauty of the majestic mountains, and breathing in the cool, fresh air, and it's counting the endless stars overhead.  Packing our things up and removing ourselves from the daily grind to experience all of this and more is what we love most.  It's what makes us say, "Hello summer.  Oh how we've missed you."  Visit my friend Julia for more Hello Summer images.

I love your pics of your version of summer. Not much chance for us to experience it over where we are right now and I know my kids would think it such a novel adventure if we ever were to try something like that. :)
