Easter Trip

It was my little man's birthday several weeks ago, and his big request was to go away and stay in a hotel where he could swim. So, because he is my boy and because I can't stand that he is growing up we granted his wish. I wasn't thinking things through very well when I planned our short get-a-way, and it ended up falling on Easter weekend. What I thought was a mistake turned into a fabulous opportunity. We stayed overnight in the hotel just like he wanted to. Of course I complained the whole time about my fear of getting bed bugs. I just watched a segment on them at the beginning of this month and I was freaked out the whole time we were there. Curse The Early Morning show! I also sacrificed and donned a swimming suit to satisfy his desire to swim. When I say sacrifice I truly mean it, but the next day when we woke up we decided to visit a local farm in the area for their baby animal day celebration. It was so much fun. The weather was perfect. Not too hot and not too cold, and amazingly enough no rain. There really weren't a whole lot of people either because it was the Saturday before Easter so we didn't have to fight any crowds. I really loved our day together. I probably loved it so much because it was like walking back in time to a different era. We were able to learn so many things about the original farm and the way they used to do things. I love old things. I am fascinated with antiques and the story they carry, so on this trip I was very intrigued. From the white picket fences, to the old homes themselves, I just couldn't get enough of it. We were able to visit the old summer kitchen home where they did all of the canning during the summer time. We learned about how the old wooden stove worked, and they were baking cookies for a demonstration. We were also able to visit the main house where they were coloring Easter Eggs old fashion style. They were wrapping the eggs in cheesecloth and then dipping them in beet juice, and blueberry juice. We visited the sewing shop where we learned about lace and the painstaking process the women went through to make it. We also saw a whole lot of sweet little baby animals. The hooligans were thrilled to hold and touch so many of them. I think this was one of the best Easter weekends we have ever had. I almost felt guilty taking all of these pictures. The scenes were all so beautiful and inviting, and everywhere I turned there was an opportunity to steal the essence of this historic place. I hope you enjoy our visit through these images as much as I did in person.

I'm glad the weather held out for you guys to go to baby animal days, I really wish we could have taken our nephews to it again. Your photos are beautiful. Did you do your own B&W of Seej or is it an action you have?
