I'm finally getting around to posting our wonderful Valentine's Day. I realize it is late, but better late than never. This is something I want my kids to remember for sure. We carried on again this year with our Valentine's tradition of candlelight dinner at home and dancing. As always it was wonderful, but this year we went a little bit farther to make it a little more special. The girls are getting big enough now that I felt like they could take on assignments for this year's annual dinner. So, Seej was assigned decorating duty. This is right up her alley, and Lou was assigned to draw up the menu. As usual the menu included their favorites: pork chops and rice with vegetables and salad. Seej made fancy straws for us to drink out of, as well as name tags for each of our seats. Lou created wonderful menus and we were all excited for our fancy dinner. When we arrived home to prepare the food Grandma Rue had a special surprise waiting. For Valentine's Day she sewed aprons for both of the girls. This instantly transformed them into our waitresses for the night. We were each handed a menu and then Seej took our orders. Lou worked the kitchen dishing up our plates. As you will see below, Doop got a major kick out of his sisters catering to him the way they did. I think he was waiting for the catch. He was waiting to find out what he had to do to get them to serve him, and was pretty excited to find out they were willing to just do it in honor of the special day for love. Dinner was followed by a lovely dessert of hot out of the oven brownies smothered in ice cream and hot fudge. The evening ended with dancing in the basement to none other than Kenny G. It was another wonderful Valentine's day, and the addition of the menus, decorating and waitressing made it that much more special. The girls were chatting about how excited they are to eventually prepare the dinner for us. It was fun to hear how excited they are for our tradition to continue. Life just wouldn't be the same without the hooligans!
