"Learning to Dance in the Rain"

Recently a good friend of mine from work introduced me to a book by Mac Anderson and BJ Gallagher entitled "Learning to Dance in the Rain".  This is a wonderful book about the power of gratitude, and it provides ways to appreciate things on a daily basis no matter our circumstances.  I love this book.  Today is a special anniversary for me.  It marks 15 years since I was involved in a near fatal accident.  Although I clearly remember the events from that day my sensitivity to it is heightened at this time of year.  My life has changed so much since that day.  There is a section in the book with a quote that I truly appreciate.  It gives a few examples of people who have survived life's difficulties and different tragedies and then it states:  "They are grateful not only to be alive, but grateful to have found meaning and purpose.  They became who they are-not in spite of their pain-but because of it."  I get this.  I am a different person because of this day 15 years ago, and I am so grateful for this experience.  I am grateful for the physical reminders that don't let me forget where I have been and how far I have come.  I am grateful for our family and the 3 small people who call me mom for they truly are a miracle.  I am grateful for parents, a husband and in-laws who have supported me throughout my life for I have accomplished things that no one thought I would.  I am grateful for good friends and BFAW's (best friends at work!) who share their lives with me and help to remind me of things I should be appreciative of.  My life is truly blessed.  So with that I leave you with a few pictures and another quote from this book.  "Life's not about waiting for the storms to pass... It's about learning to dance in the rain".
