Heaven

My little man started class at a new school this year.  He had a difficult year last year, and the summer months leading up to a new classroom was a bit rocky as well.  School started though and he braved it as well as expected.  His biggest concerns have just been getting through the day and keeping up with the work.  He has been working hard, and although it's been tough he has given a greater effort than I could have ever hoped for.  When he came home and started talking about making a couple of friends this was the icing on the cake.  He has been working so hard to make this year different than the last, and making not one, but two little friends has made it so much more fun.  When his friends (who happen to be twins) started drawing him maps to their house and sending them home with him from school I knew that we needed to invite them over.  I wanted my boy to experience the happiness of having his little friends over to play, and it was so much fun to watch.

Ever thought about heaven?  Ever wondered what it might look like?  Watching these three little boys laughing, screaming and running from one thing to the next enjoying each others company was like a little piece of heaven.  Especially from the perspective of a little boy.  There were truck races, and an auto shop.  There were all the sound effects that go along with the trucks and their adventures.  They raced them inside, they raced them outside, and when that got dull the guns came out.  The backyard was magically transformed into a jungle full of wild animals.  They found safety on the trampoline shooting high and low at each creature that attacked.  They even yelled at me to drop and duck for cover when I went outside to try and catch a few shots.  Apparently there was a huge moose that was about to trample me, but no worries.  These three had my back.  I honestly can't tell you how good it felt to watch my boy with his friends.  To see the smile on his face, to hear his huge laugh, and to see him happily lost in a world where nothing else mattered.  It was simply the best.  I couldn't have asked for a better reward for the hard work that he has put in.  On this afternoon every single bit of it was worth it, and on this afternoon I saw what heaven looked like through my little boy's eyes.  Having good friends like this just makes the world a better place.

I remember those time with my "little boy". He and his friends are into slightly different activities these days at age 15/16. Love those precious memories.

What a beautiful reflection - I hope that heaven looks a little bit like that. :)
